Durgaprasad Bandi

Durgaprasad Bandi engages in a variety of mediums and techniques like Printmaking, drawings and Paintings. Born in Andhra Pradesh, he learnt the art of Print Making from MSU- Baroda as his master degree. His paintings reflect the macro and the micro of the work around him where the subject matter goes from the personal to the universal level. He tries to recreate the ambiguity between the real and mysterious things in his work and daily life icons erupt into his art as if they are all part of his psyche. One can see a lot of depth and character in his portrayal of animals in his paintings. He draws the mind at work on the canvas as it moulds the memory with immediate experiences of the nature of life. One can see feelings of the seen, the felt and the imagined all together in his work. The animal instinct that runs through the individual can be seen as flowing, tender, and peaceful yet also turning into aggression and violence. He uses the dog in his works as an analogue to share man agony as well as a symbol of hope and optimism. He prefers to deal with mediums like woodcuts & drypoint prints as a printmaker.
